Solid Testimony

Hey friends back home.

Sorry i haven’t written in a while.
The work out here is great, i am on my second companion and we’re getting along really well. We’re on the hunt for a couple used guitars, and i’m learning the harmonica.

These past few weeks i’ve really learned that the testimony is the strongest thing i can have. People can’t argue with it, they can argue with doctrine all they want, but when you have a good solid testimony, its hopeless for them.

The weather has been good, then cold, then rainy then good. Its supposed to be in the 70’s this week.

I wish i had more time to write this out. However if tim wants, he can add parts of the letter i sent to him. I am so grateful i chose to go on this mission. I’ve learned so much here about the work, and about myself. THE OCM ROCKS

Continue to write me. I’ll have more next week

Yeah, I used to have a testimony, too. :)

Runtu: Used to??

Yep. I used to say the same things you have been saying.

Hmm.. Do you care to expound?

Let’s just say that my testimony depended on not having all the pertinent information. But it’s not my place to argue my position with you. You’re on a mission and doing what you think is right. That’s cool with me.

I totally respect your feelings and beliefs.. I’m not Chas, I’m Tim, Chas’ big brother. I am managing his blog for him. I wasn’t trying to be confrontational, more just curious. I understand if you’d prefer to not get into things… Thank you for sharing!

No problem. If you’re interested in my perspective, my blog is at runtu.wordpress.com.

Basically, my issues with the church are twofold:

1. LDS scripture does not hold up to scrutiny (the Book of Abraham being perhaps the most obvious example).

2. The history of the church shows a pattern of deception and personal gain (see, for example, the Kirtland Bank scandal and Joseph Smith’s practice of polyandry).

I have to admit to enjoying following your brother’s blog. It reminds me of my days as a young missionary.

I will read your blog.

Thanks again…

As much as I would like to continue our discussion, perhaps off-line would be a better forum. I’m trying to keep this blog as an open and positive environment. We all know how religious discussions can quickly devolve and become negative for all parties.

Thank you.

Most definitely, hence my declining to argue here. :)
